What Is Perfect Love?
August 23, 2007
Today, sitting in my pink armchair, reading about how a world-famous medium was able to communicate with the spirit world and our physical world and end the grief of those who had been left behind, I became even more aware of how love is the central theme of the universe itself. This was what the departed passed on to those who remained on earth. Their major regret was that they had not loved or expressed their love when they were alive.
When Jesus said that “he who loves me shall not perish” what did he mean?
Since death is not real, the Soul being eternal, what does he mean? I like to imagine that he means the end of the process of suffering unlovingness. For to be unloved is a kind of death.
Once a soul gets that it is the Allness, lovingness happens spontaneously, because the Beloved is expressing Itself.
The Light and Love are one and the same. In fact, it is the Light that is loving through us when we feel love.
What To Expect From A Feng Shui Consultation
August 22, 2007
If you are wishing to harmonize or balance your house or any other environment according to feng shui, the ideal way to do so is through a feng shui consultation. A feng shui consultation would provide you the right and proper guidance for you to successfully achieve your goal.
Before you go to a feng shui consultation, it is important that you pay attention to choosing a good consultant. You should try to find out one who has experience and demonstrated knowledge. As with everything else, there are real feng shui consultants, who care for what they do, as well as there are others who do not. But you can easily check on this by asking him some references on where he learned and about past work.
A feng shui consultation may vary according to each different person and the way they like to work, but most of them would follow some general aspects in common. And, ideally, they should allow you to understand what they are talking about and what they are based on to give you a specific orientation.
Happiness. Its Between Our Ears!
August 21, 2007
Happiness is something we all seek, yet few of us find
-Some search for it an acquiring material possessions
-Some search for it in experiencing pleasant sensations
-Some search for it in seeking the approval of others
-Some search for it in the exercising of power
-Some search for it in the love of money
-Some search for it in the quest for success
Yes, Happiness is something we all seek, and yet for most it is something that comes, then slips away, to be always just out of reach. Why? Is life really unfair? Aren’t we meant to be happy? Are we being punished?
The interesting thing is that all these ways that people search for happiness, and the questions they ask when they don’t find it, have one thing in common.
They are all OUTSIDE ourselves. Sadly, most people are looking in the wrong places, and asking the wrong questions.
The truth is that Happiness is something that comes from within us. One night, trying to express my thoughts, I sat and wrote these words…
Happiness
We’ll never find true Happiness In more and bigger Things, In pleasures sought outside ourselves; In money, cars or rings
What is God? Does Proof Exist?
August 20, 2007
Apology:
I don’t for a minute profess to know what God is. Frankly, I think God is beyond the grasp of mind because God is beyond the senses and beyond limited words and images.
However because I am blessed or cursed with reason, I seek some glimmer of understanding.
I, like everyone else, seek to satiate this unquenchable thirst for knowledge by gathering it from other minds. And because we have such marvelous things as books, I am able to bend time and space and bring understanding into the present.
This essay is not an attempt to proselytize but merely an attempt to clarify. Nor does it seek to answer any questions about why the world exists the way that it does.
In fact it has no express purpose other than the joy of thinking and sharing those ideas with others. However, since we are, by nature, teleological beings, then perhaps consider this synthesis of ideas as an invitation to inquire about the meaning of life.
Finally, this is my view of things. It is not an assertion of absolute knowledge nor do I profess to be an exponent of original thought.
Western Perspective:
Return to Ouvea, New Caledonia
August 19, 2007
“Ouvea is everything you’d expect in a South Pacific island. Twenty kilometers of unbroken white sands border the lagoon on the west side of the island and extend far out from shore to give the water a turquoise hue. The wide western lagoon, protected by a string of coral islands and a barrier reef, is the only one of its kind in the Loyalties. On the ocean side are rocky cliffs, pounded by surf, but fine beaches may be found even here. At one point on this narrow atoll only 450 meters separates the two coasts. Traditional circular houses with pointed thatched roofs are still common in the villages”.
Those words appeared in the 1985 edition of my South Pacific Handbook after a visit in 1983. Just over 20 years later I returned to Ouvea to discover that little had changed in this large French colony east of Australia.
Most Ouveans still live in traditional thatched case (houses) and the beach is as dazzling as ever. On my first evening there, as I watched the red fireball set slowly across the lagoon, I felt a strong affinity with my previous visit.
Creating Happiness
August 18, 2007
Whatever we want in life, a partner, more money, good health, a fulfilling career, or enlightenment, it all comes down to the same thing: behind all the wishes, behind all the desires, and beyond every symbol, we want to feel happy. After all, if we feel completely happy, what more do we need? And if we don’t feel happy, there is not a relationship or career that can satisfy us.
All men and women want to find happiness, but you don’t find happiness anymore than an artist finds a beautiful statue; he or she sculpts it from a shapeless stone. A musician doesn’t find an intricate melody; he or she composes it from the eight note scale.
Happiness is not an acquisition, it’s a skill. We don’t experience happiness because of something that we’re getting, like a raise or money. We experience happiness because of how we’re living. For example, having a tennis racket doesn’t make you a good tennis player, learning how to play tennis does. Having material things doesn’t make you happy; living each moment of the day to the fullest does. Happiness is living in the present moment. You experience happiness when you know exactly where you are in your life at a given moment, and experience that moment to the fullest.
Me and My Big Mouth!
August 18, 2007
During World War II the government realized that the majority of citizen-soldiers had no idea on how to conduct themselves to prevent inadvertent disclosure of important information to the enemy. Central to maintaining national security was the Office of War Information Drive to limit talk about the war in both public and private arenas of American life. Silence meant security.
As such, great emphasis was placed on educating servicemen and civilians about the need for secrecy concerning military matters and massive advertising campaigns were launched. In fact, the advertising campaign was so large that no other series of World War II posters portrayed such a recurring theme as this. It is from this era that the statement "Loose Lips Sink Ships" was born.
What are the effects of gossip? Think. Where does the enemy (Satan) get his information ? information that can put you, your family, friends or coworkers, adrift on an open sea: information that can damage relationships and cause you to lose even more, unless you personally, vigilantly, perform your duty by not gossiping?
Accountability and Such Nonsense
August 17, 2007
From the late 1970’s through the 1980’s, my wife and I were members of an authoritarian Bible cult. Not only were we members, but we were full time, unpaid leaders. We were not supported financially in any way for our contribution, yet required to do full time service and pay our tithes for opportunities to minister within the system. We were trustingly blind to how the system was only interested in using us for the betterment of itself. That was our responsibility to see. We finally have.
My intent in writing this is not to bring an expose against a particular religious group, as many others have. The cult mentioned above has reaped its own reward, so there is no need to pursue it any further. More importantly, there is a matter of circular activity, of whirlpool proportions, that continues to plague those who have organized themselves into new forms of the same.
The old organization became oppressive with verbal and social abuse toward individuals with perceived errors. Many followers were so taken by the authority of ordained men and women who dished out this abuse that they would not stand up for their fellows when innocent. They were afraid that the same abuse would then be turned upon them, so they shunned the innocent and allowed them to languish.
Cosmic Cow
August 16, 2007
The cow is a mother to mankind whom we should love, respect and protect. Her milk is the life blood for many species, including humans. Her dung provides fuel and bricks for millions of rural families across Asia . Her urine is medicine for the sick. When she dies her skin provides us warmth and protection through clothing.
In Astrology, the cow or bull is the symbol of the sign Taurus, a sign representing earth, nature and all its bounties. In Vedic Astrology, the cow’s many wonderful qualities are emphasized through the various nakshatras. She is one of the universal mothers represented by the constellation Krittika. Her unlimited resourcefulness is associated with the constellation Rohini, whose symbol, ‘an oxen cart pulling a fresh harvest’ highlights the fertility aspect of both the earth and the cow. ‘Bhooma Devi’ or ‘Mother Earth’ is symbolised as a cow in the Vedic tradition, as just like the earth, the cow is an endless giver of resources and nourishment.
The cow’s nourishing aspect is associated with the constellation Pushya, which has a cow’s ‘milk giving udder’ as its main symbol and is a constellation related to motherhood and dependability. The cow’s patient and gentle nature is associated with the constellation Uttara bhadrapada, which has cow as its sexual animal.
Be Happy, Join The Wednesday Worry Club
August 15, 2007
Of all the people who know me, no one would say I am afflicted with worryitis. They may say other things about me, which may or may not be true, but that’s another story.
If you ask me, and nobody has, worry is just a waste of time that could be used more profitably. Every hour of worry takes away from an hour of happiness. There is absolutely no “rhyme or reason” to spend one moment worrying.
Actually, there is a little “rhyme,” (it sounds more like rap than anything else), but I assure you there is absolutely no reason for it.
A friend has a cute motto he likes to call to mind; “Why worry when you can pray,” which makes perfectly good sense. If we would spend time we would use to worry and pray, we would discover little to unduly concern us.
Very little in life causes me to agonize or be anxious. I have better use of my time than wasting it in such a useless employment carrying no benefits or retirement.
